Alenka Jovanovski is a poet, translator, literary critic, essayist and editor. After earning her PhD in Comparative Literature, she lectured at the Universities of Ljubljana and Nova Gorica. Since 2011 she has worked as a freelancer. She translates from contemporary Italian literature and literatures written in the English language. Her poetry has been published in two collections of poems (Trousers For G. and A Thousand and Eighty Degrees) and is translated into Spanish, English and Polish. Alenka’s poems can be found in the anthology Women in the reverse portrait (12 women poets from the Czech Republic, Ukraine and Slovenia, 2013) and in the American anthology of Slovenian poetry, A Bridge of Voices (2017).
