Registration, costs, and travel logistics

Humans in the Environment: a writing and research residency

Registration and costs:

The residency fee is $2,300, which covers all lodging and group transportation within Vietnam as well as meals together. Excursion fees and park entrance are also included. Participants are responsible for the costs and arrangement of international flights, visas, travel insurance, and transportation between the airport and our hotel in Ho Chi Minh City.

A deposit of 50% of the fee is due on registration. The remaining 50% will be due one month before the residency. Refunds will be issued only for cancellation before December 1, 2018.

Lodging:

We will arrange hotel rooms (individual or shared, by participants’ preference) in Ho Chi Minh City and Dalat. In the park, we will stay in dorms (small bungalows with sleeping rooms, shared bathrooms and living room), and meals will be in the park cafeteria. Dietary restrictions will be difficult to accommodate there, as meals are served family-style. We will not have access to a kitchen, so please plan accordingly.

In-country travel:

Between Ho Chi Minh City and Dalat, we will book business-class air travel on Vietnam Airlines. If you are planning to continue your travel in Vietnam from Dalat instead of returning to Ho Chi Minh City on January 9, let us know so that we can coordinate that for you.

I highly recommend visiting Hoi An, Hue or Hanoi to round out your trip. And definitely get yourself a copy of the brand-new edition of Lonely Planet Vietnam.

Register by July 31, 2018. The residency is limited to 10 writers. A registration packet will be sent to you by August 15 with more detailed information and necessary forms.
